How to make a chocolate cake

1. Gather your ingredients to get started.


2. You will need:

3/4 cups butter or margarine, softened


3 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup milk
3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
4. Grease and flour three 6" X 1 1/2" round cake pans
5. Put together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
6. Set aside.
7. In a large bowl, beat butter, eggs, and vanilla.
8. Gradually add sugar.
9. Beat on medium to high speed for about 3-4 minutes until well mixed.
10.Alternately, combine in flour mixture and milk to the batter while
beating.
11.Continue to beat until batter is smooth with no clumps.
12.Pour equal amounts of batter into greased and floured round cake
pans.
13.Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
14.Take out after 30 to 30 minutes
15.Check with a toothpick to see if it is done. Bake a few minutes more, if
needed.
16.Remove from oven and allow cakes to cool in pans for a few minutes.
17.Place cakes on a wire rack, to them allow to completely cool.
18.While cake is cooking prepare the frosting using these ingredients
- 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled to
lukewarm
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 3 cups powdered sugar


19.Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Allow to cool until just warm.
20.In a mixing bowl, beat butter until creamy, about 3 minutes.
21.Add milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
22.Add melted chocolate. Beat about 3 minutes.
23.Add powdered sugar, beating on low until smooth and creamy.
24.Put the icing in a piping bag.
25.Place one round cake on a cake plate.
26.Start to ice the cake
27.Repeat step 25 for the third cake
28.Cut the cake and enjoy
