Analysing and documenting

For this next image I wanted to keep

within the eerie feeling. However, instead
of keeping within the bedroom I decided I
wanted to take an image outside. I
planned what I would do before I went
outside as I needed strong sunlight for
the photograph to work. Unlike my
second image of the candle I wanted to
blacken out the front and show the
background. In order to achieve this look I
needed the sun to be behind the object. I
found a large tree and knew immediately
it would work. It was in front of a park
near by some railings. When positioning
the camera I made sure the sun was
blocked out by the tree. This is how I
managed to make it look like the tree was
blacked out.

I then edited the image on Photoshop. To

do this I first darkened the photograph by
taking down the contrast. I then cut out
the tree and darkened it separately. I
then placed it back into the frame and
brightened the back ground by adding a
blue tint to the sky. I was thoroughly
pleased with the overall look of the image and felt it was in keeping with the slight eerie atmosphere
from which I was trying to create.
