Baseball
The Cuban baseball league system is
not a single baseball league; rather it
is a structure of leagues and series
that are governed by the Baseball
Federation of Cuba and culminate in
national championships and the
selection of the Cuba national
baseball team.
The National Series generally runs
from November through April with a
schedule of 90 games per team in
the regular season. The series is then
followed by 3 playoff rounds
culminating in a championship. This
series has been played each winter
since 1961-62. There are 16 teams

Basketball
The Cuba national basketball team is
the national basketball team from
Cuba.[1] Cuba won the bronze medal
at 1972 Summer Olympics and the
4th place 1974 FIBA World
Championship. They are the only
team from the Caribbean to win a
medal at a major global event.

Soccer
The Cuba national football team is controlled by the Asociacin de Ftbol de
Cuba, the governing body for football in Cuba.[1] They are affiliated to the
Caribbean Football Union of CONCACAF.

They were the first Caribbean team to make the World Cup, which they did in
1938. There, they defeated Romania in a replay 21 after drawing against them
33. They were then eliminated in the quarter-finals by Sweden, 80. Cuba has
not returned to the World Cup.

Volleyball

Cuba women's national volleyball team was the first team to break the USSR's
and Japan's domination in the world women's volleyball by winning the 1978
World Women's Volleyball Championship.
The Cuba Men's National Volleyball Team is the national team of Cuba. Cuba in
the 1976 Summer Olympics on Silve medal.

Track and Feild


Track and field Cuban athletes have a
rich historical background in
international competences. Since
their first participation in 1983 in
Helsinki, Finland, to the last in South
Korea, Cuba has shown to the world
an astonishing competitive
participation obtaining 47 medals. 19
golden medals, 18 silver medals, and
10 bronze medals. This is the result
of great performances of 134
athletes that made to their finals in
their respective disciplines.

Boxing

Boxing is a popular sport in Cuba. As of 1992, there were over 16,000 boxers on
the island. Across Cuba today there are 494 boxing coaches and 185 facilities.
Of the 99,000 athletes in Cuba currently, 19,000 are boxers, including 81 of
Olympic competence, even though only 12 make the Olympic
