Visualization Project

Phase I: Interpretation
The first phase of any creative endeavor is to have something to say.
Towards that end, you will be performing a close reading of a significant
passage from one of the short stories in Love Medicine.

You may choose to connect two passages from different stories.

Due Friday, 04/09:

A word document turned in through Interact BEFORE class containing:
1. A transcript of the passage(s) you see as significant
2. A 1-2 page analysis of that/those passage(s). Here are some
elements you may choose to focus on:
A. Significance of the passage to the work as a whole
B. Imagery, symbolism or literary devices
C. Prose style
D. Themes
E. Character Development
F. Creation of Setting
G. Conflict, Connection, Power and/or Epiphany

(OVER FOR PHASE II & III)

Phase II: Translation
Now that you have something to say, you will find a way of converting your
text, your words, to images. For this phase, you will turn in a story board
depicting how you intend to convey your 1-2 page analysis through images
and sounds (but not words).

Due Mon, 04/12:

A complete storyboard.
(See Storyboarding Handout.)

Phase III: Visualization

The final step will be to film and edit your translation.

You may choose to use the text from the original passage in your film as
either narration or subtitles.

You may not use any other language in your film.

Due Fri, 04/16:

A mind-blowingly original short film.
(See Shot Sheet & Premiere Handouts.)
