VASE How to On VASE Day

Arrive at Otto Middle School.

If arriving on bus have students wait on bus. If students are driving they are to meet their teacher at the
main entrance. They are to wait outside until the teacher has gone through registration.

TEACHER only, goes through Registration with Regional Certification Form signed by you & your principal
and all Student Agreement & Artwork Release Forms.

If a student is not present with you at the time of Registration, mark him/her DNA in pencil (Did Not Attend)
on your Certification Form.

Juror Forms for DNAs are to be turned in at Registration to be placed in the Yellow Folder. DNA is to be
marked on the upper right hand corn in pencil. If the student arrives later, the DNA will be removed and
he/she will pick up their juror form to take with them for qualification and judging.

Go back to students and pass out juror rating forms; take students to Qualifications (see map). Line the
students up in the Qualifications lines. There are lines for 2D and 3D.

Students (with Teacher present) go through Qualifications.

If there is a concern with qualification the teacher will be directed to take the student work to the Regional
Director. If the work does not meet qualification the teacher will be notified, the juror form marked DQ, and
the work will be held until pick up time. Please do not have the student with you at this time. It is the
teachers responsibility to notify the student.

Accompany your students to your schools assigned holding area after finishing with Qualifications. (This
will be in the cafeteria.)

Teachers and students must watch their juror rating forms for the jury times. 10 minutes prior to a students
first interview, the student proceeds to the jury floors and go sit outside their jury room. Students/Teachers
can find their jurying times and juror rooms in the upper right corner of their Juror Rating Form.

Maps of all the Jury Rooms are posted.

Student waits in line outside the Jury Room for the juror to come and ask him/her to come in.

Student hands artwork and Juror Rating Form to juror and discusses the artwork (a 6 minute interview).
Students with 3D artworks unpack and pack their own artwork.

Student leaves artwork and Juror Rating Form with the juror and leaves to meet you back in your holding
area. OR if student has 2 entries, proceeds to next Jury Room.

Artwork with all Rating 4 Artwork will be available for view in the Gym from 9:30am to 1:30pm. (See map
for show areas)

1:30pm The Gym is closed and Area Judging takes place.

5:30 Teachers ONLY checkout.

After paper work is checked with the medal count teachers will proceed to assigned pick up area.
