3.6 - Exercise: Moodboard for the Feature Article Project
Nameplate

The MARK magazine logo is conventionally

prominently fully visible. The nameplate is
colored to occupy the color scheme of any
issues cover. Occasionally, the nameplate logo
may be part of an object. Issue 50 shows the
MARK nameplate extruding from a concrete
sculpture of sorts.
The Mark logo is stark, capital sans-serif letters
stylized with descending extensions along a
uniform angle. I perceive such to symbolize
one making a mark by building structures of
significant height.

Cover
The covers of MARK magazine issues predominantly feature photography of starchitecture
accompanied with appropriate heading text and cover elements otherwise. Everything is arranged
clearly, yet some times as an arrangement on an alternative grid design. The magazine is boldly
contemporary. The colors chosen for typography are sometimes taken from the cover art and
contrast and work with the art to form a coherent presentation.

The featured article headline on the cover is presented larger and incorporated into the artwork.
Lesser article headings are often listed along the bottom of the cover, capsulized in wrapping,
shorter line length. The font used is Helvetica.

3.6 - Exercise: Moodboard for the Feature Article Project

Feature Article
The entire magazines text, including the feature
article and elements are Helvetica. Images are
captioned either inside or adjacent to the art.
The opening pages of the article show the
articles title in very large type with a deck.
The byline for the article is at the head of one
page, the photography the other. Art is used
here. A lead isnt used here; combined with
deck framed photo fulfills a lead purpose.
Otherwise, the Feature article is a layout of
mostly a 3 column grid. Pull quotes are aligned
in the thinner, center column. Various photos
and floor plan illustrations show the subject
building. There are some full-page images and
a full-spread image.
