Statement of Future Plans
As colleges begin to send letters of acceptance and rejection, and the school year draws
to a close, my future plans have begun to solidify and take shape. After learning that I was not
accepted into both UC Davis and Cal Poly, my plans shifted from directly attending a four-year
university to transferring from a community college. After graduating, I plan to attend Solano
Community College for two years while working, then transferring to Cal Poly in order to obtain
a degree in mechanical engineering.
During my time at Buckingham, I utilized classes such as all of my math classes,
Physics, and art to realize what I want to do in college. They helped me realize that I want to
pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. Subsequently, I took classes that would either
insure that I would be able to graduate or improve my chances of receiving a degree as fast as
possible. I took a music class over the summer to fill my A-G requirement, took pre-calculus in
order to expose myself to the higher level math that I would be taking in college, and TAd for
physics my senior year to refresh my memory on the class.
My talents that will contribute towards my success in the future are my high aptitude in
math oriented subjects as well as creativity. I will use those skills in college in order to succeed
in classes such as physics which require competency in both field. Furthermore, I am a hard
worker and punctual, which I will use in my job as well as school.
In regards to discrepancies in my academic record, there are not many. My grades are
very reflective of what I did in high school. I simply did enough to graduate, which at this point

Im not very proud of. I thought that As and Bs were alright but now I realize that if I dont try
now, Ill never try in the future.
After Buckingham, I will be attending Solano for two year. During those two years, I plan
to complete as much of my general education in order to reduce the amount of classes that I will
have to take in the future. Although resulting from my rejection from CalPoly, the two years will
allow me to take classes at a lower price as opposed to a four-years price, while also enabling
me to explore my options in terms of majors and careers.
During the initial two years after high school, I also plan to work. Currently, I am
searching for a job, with two interviews in place. Through this, I hope to gain work experience
and a more colorful resume. Additionally, I hope to save money during this time for the future.
Two years after Buckingham, I plan on transferring to Cal Poly, seeking a degree in
mechanical engineering. Although I do not plan on necessarily pursuing a career in engineering,
I chose the major as I believed that it accomplished two goals of mine. It provides me with a
degree that I can show to future employers. Furthermore, it provides me with a type of
specialized skill and an amalgamation of specialized knowledge.
My future plans after high school are to attend Solano Community College, work during
this time, and then transfer to Cal Poly.
