Dear addiction/mental health professionals and members of
the recovery community:
Compared to the general population, individuals from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community have significantly higher rates of substance abuse. People in the LGBT community experience homophobia, discrimination, and violence that can contribute to medical, psychological, and chemical health problems. Six addiction treatment centers - Harmony Foundation, CeDAR, Jaywalker, AspenRidge, A New Path, and Triple Peaks Recovery - have united to form the group Colorado United for Addiction Recovery, and we will be marching together in the 2016 Denver PrideFest Parade! All people interested in joining together to support the LGBT community in finding acceptance, love, and recovery are invited to march with us! The parade steps off from Cheesman Park on Sunday, June 19, at 9:30am. Please contact me if you are interested in joining us in the parade! Those who march will receive a FREE T-SHIRT with the above emblem! We will then march in the parade together as a show of support and solidarity.
