Phonics, Spelling and Vocabulary
Extend knowledge and use of spelling patterns, e.g. vowel phonemes, double consonants, silent letters,
common prefixes and suffixes.

Vietnamese National Curriculum

In unit 6, year 4 VNC will keep going with the 3 topics:


Sports, Home and The sky - The earth. Through
these students will have chances to learn new
vocabulary, new grammatical points, how to write a
longer paragraph as well as review the phonic.

The students will investigate the relationship


between humour and music and how it needs to be
funny for musical reasons. They will listen to
examples of music by Leroy Anderson, Rossini,
Haydn, and Dukas, that imitate nature, things,
animals and people, in a humorous way.

Vietnamese Language and Culture

Language focus: ALL ABOUT ME


Year 4 will continue their next VLC lesson with ALL
ABOUT ME topic. During VLC lessons, the children
will learn lots of new vocabulary related to their
interest, hobbies and outward appearances. They will
also learn some simple conversation to introduce
themselves in Vietnamese.

Chinese/Mandarin

In weeks 1-5 students learn about:


Vocabulary of body parts and basic adjectives
Reading
Learn radicals:
Colouring and describing people in simple
Chinese sentences.
Write Character :

Physical Education
During the sixth unit of inquiry, students in Physical Education will be involved in
street hockey. The focus will be on participating in a variety of roles within a team
and the safe use of equipment. Students will further refine the skills of dribbling,
passing and shooting while continuing to develop an understanding of strategies
relating to street hockey.
