Safety Plan

Provide general guidelines to both chaperones and students before the trip begins.
Be familiar with students medical concerns and communicate these to the chaperones
as well.
Management Plan
Dress Code for Field Trip: Students, chaperones and teachers can wear jeans but they
need they do not need to be baggy or ripped. We ask that you wear Trace Crossings tshirt or a plain black, white or orange shirt so that our group is somewhat uniform.
Groups: We will all stay together, but our chaperones and myself we each be in charge
of a smaller group so that we can make sure we all stay together. Our class of 24 will be
split into 3 smaller groups with group leaders (chaperones and myself) and these leaders
will each have 8 students in each group. Students leaders will make sure their entire
group stays together with not only their small group, but also our entire group. You will
be assigned these groups when you arrive at the school on the day of the field trip.
Lunch and Snack Plan
Students will be given a sack lunch that will be made by our wonderful Trace
Crossings cafeteria team. They will eat lunch at 11:30 a.m. and it will include:
Cookie
Milk
They will also receive grapes or an apple and water bottle for their snack. Students will
receive their snacks at 1:30 p.m. before they depart the museum and drive back to Trace.
Pre & Post Test:
While students are eating their breakfast the morning of the trip, students will be
given a prompt to respond to in their journals. They will be asked to write about what
they hope to see at the museum and some questions that they want to ask the museum
staff. The day after the students return from their fieldtrip they will be asked to write a
response journal entry about their experience. They will be asked to include 5 things that
they learned about the Revolutionary War and 3 things from the war that they were able
to see in person.
Follow-Up
The students will write thank you notes to the staff and tour guides from the
museum telling them how much they appreciated letting our class come visit. I will also
write a thank you note to the chaperones that attended the trip as well.
