To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to share my professional and personal recommendation for Heather Morlan. Last fall,
Heather was a student teacher in the school where I work, and it happened to be in my daughters
classroom. I was instantly impressed with Heathers classroom presence, demeanor, and energy, and she
continued to make a positive impact on me, as well as others in our school, during her time there.
Heather is not only a joy to work with, but her passion & determination to help all children learn
successfully is evident. She has many creative ideas for lessons & projects, yet she discerns a level of
practicality that allows the activities she develops to be carried out with entire classrooms of students. I was
also able to see her try some activities that did not work as well, as happens with all of us; I was impressed
with Heathers understanding of how to adjust the activity to make it work or discard it while noting its
usefulness as a learning experience!
My daughter, who has learning disabilities, thrived under Mrs. Morlans leadership. Heather was
patient and encouraging with my daughter, taking time to offer practical strategies and practice
opportunities. At the same time, Heather reflected on her own personal experiences in school and used
available resources to continue learning more methods to enable my daughter, and the class as a whole, to
learn to their highest abilities. One lasting impact of Heathers presence in our school was a student-led
encouragement campaign she supported. The students created and executed the project, but her guidance
made this an easily reproducible activity that could carry on past her time at the school.
I am thankful for the opportunity to have had Heather as a colleague, and I have contacted her
several times since as a resource. She was a positive asset to our building in many capacities, showing
flexibility and a team spirit, but never at the neglect of her primary responsibility within the classroom. I
have full confidence that Heather will be a warm and dynamic member of any teaching team.
Sincerely,
`
