Crosslinguistic similarity task-description


1. Students are divided into pairs or groups of three.
2. The teacher distributes the handout with one activity and asks students to compare and
guess the meaning of Russian words.
3. After 2-3 minutes, the teacher asks what students answers are. The teacher explains
that Polish and Russian are similar languages, but there are many false friends that can
cause problems.
4. The teacher discusses the meaning of the words with students and tells them which of
the words where false friends and which sound similar in both languages.
