LITERACY focus standards

MATH focus standard

CCSS: L.1.4a Students will determine or

clarify the meaning of unknown words and
phrases using sentence-level context as a
clue to the meaning.

CCSS: 1.MD.C.4 Organize, represent, and interpret

data with up to three categories; ask and answer
questions about the total number of data points, how
many in each category, and how many more or less
are in one category than in another.

We will use clues in nearby sentences for meaning,

and then define unknown words. We will then use the
words in a new sentence to demonstrate understanding.
Phonics Skills:

CCSS: W.1.1 Students will write opinion

pieces in which they introduce the topic or
name the book they are writing about, state
an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion,
and provide some sense of closure.

1. Homework this week: Nightly reading and
recording it in reading log thats all!
2. Our 1st grade Dia de las Madres celebration
is this Tuesday from 9:45 10:15.
3. Remember to send in excuses for absences
or tardies.
4. The last day of school is Tuesday, May 24th.
Report cards will go home that day, and
dismissal is at 11:00.

A family from our class suffered a tragic loss from a house fire late last
week. Anyone able to help with donations of personal hygiene items, clothes,
shoes, food, and/or water, please contact me or the school counselor, Cassie
