    Application Assignment 1:

    Perception
    Due: September 22, 2015
    This assignment is designed to help you investigate your perception processes. Go to a public
    place where you can observe people you do not know (i.e. mall, restaurant, UC, beach). Take
    notes on what you observe. Think about the following questions: To what do you pay attention?
    Do you notice some aspects about people more than others? What types of impressions do you
    form? On what are those impressions based? To which types of people are you attracted or not
    attracted? Why? On what stereotypes do you most commonly draw?
    Write a 2 page (double-spaced) response in which you 1) discuss what you learned using the
    above questions and 2) explain how your experiences relate to either impression formation
    theory or implicit personality theory.
