FAST CACHE

FAST CACHE will move hot blocks up to Flash Disk provides an

increase in performance and response time on SVC LUNs with this
enabled on the VNX.

FAST VP

With SVC Pools FAST VP will provide no benefit. However, with Pass Through LUNs
FAST VP will allow the most frequently used data to Tier on SSD, 15K SAS, or NLSAS Drives accordingly

SNAPView

SVC Provides Crash Consistent Snapshot Technology. Best Practice is

to allow SVC to control replication for LUN Snapshots.

VNX Snapshots

SVC Provides Crash Consistent Snapshot Technology. Best Practice is

to allow SVC to control replication for LUN Snapshots.

RecoverPoint CLR, CDP,

CRR

RecoverPoint can provide Application consistent Local and/or remote TiVo type
block recovery

IP Replicator*

Since SVC is block only, Unified VNX Arrays with File could serve
NFS/SMB services and provide Data Replication and Protection for File

MirrorView

SVC Provides Block Level Replication Technology. Best Practice is to

allow SVC to control replication for LUN crash consistency

Best Practice is not to utilize Application Protection Suite with VNX with
SVC since Application Consistency cannot be 100% guaranteed

VNX SVC Best Practices Cont

Since SVC also provides some intelligent caching FAST Cache will provide a secondary tier
of Faster Read Caching. Because of SVC cache statistics and predicting the performance
increases due to FAST Cache can be difficult to ascertain.
FAST Cache will also provide Write Cache performance increase.
IP Replicator is only applicable in a Unified System where NFS/SMB
SVC can do RAID 1 on LUNs and RAID 5 on internal Flash Drives
