Rochester PTSA Members and Supporters,

As our 2016-17 school year comes to a close, the Rochester PTSA wanted to thank
you for your support and let you know what your membership and donations of time
and money have allowed up to accomplish.

Purchased high top tables and chairs for the common areas in the mall and
outside the cafeteria.
Teacher Grants:
o Robot for STEM classes
Reflections Art Program and Awards Ceremony
Freshman Mentoring Program luncheon
Support for the district wide STEAM Career Fair
Earned Michigan Green Schools Evergreen Award
Delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels program
Coordinated 3 staff appreciation events
Provided coat check at the Homecoming and Winter dances
Provided refreshments at the Homecoming and Winter dances
Coordinated volunteers for school registration
Provided a student directory
Created a website to help communicate events and accomplishments
Representatives on District PTA committees for Legislative, Health and
Wellness, Green Schools, Parent Advisory Committee for Special Education,
Reflections, STEAM and Founders Day
Established a carpool list for those interested
Proved support to pass the School Bond in November
Provide ongoing input during bond meetings
Support the Senior All Night Party
Provide volunteers to help out with copies for the staff
Provide volunteers to give school tours to new families in the district
Coordinated football and basketball Falcon Frenzy tailgate events

The Rochester PTSA Board and your students thank you for your support. We look
forward to completing this school year and planning for next year. Please continue
reading to see what opportunities we have available in the PTSA for next year. Our
next meeting is, Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 7 pm. Please come and hear what is
happening at Rochester and bring ideas for next year!

Membership Committee
Responsible for promoting membership in the PTSA through a variety of means:
parent newsletter, school events, staff notices, and other means approved by the
Board. Keeps record of all membership information, receives dues from new
members, and provides information to the Treasurer for remittance of monthly state
and national dues.
Reflections Committee
Responsible for overseeing the school-wide Reflections contest, including the
promoting the contest, distributing contest rules and policies, and submitting
entries. Also responsible for honoring students who place first, second or third at
the district level competition at a PTSA meeting. A good understanding of the
contests goals and ideals is needed.
Volunteer Coordinator
Organizes volunteers needed to assist at various functions and events. Serves as
the parent-staff liaison to identify volunteer needs at RHS and to match parents with
volunteer opportunities. Works closely with PTSA president and RHS staff on a
regular basis to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
Coat Check Committee
Responsible for scheduling volunteers and organizing, setting up, working and
cleaning up the coat check area for all school dances.
PTSA Garden Committee
Responsible for recruiting volunteers to assist in the upkeep of the planting bed
outside the main entrance. Duties include weeding, mulching, and general
maintenance of the planting bed.

Student Registration Assistance


Several volunteers are needed for student registration in August. Please arrange to
arrive a few minutes early to review the procedures for the area you are assigned
to. Duties consist of assisting school staff and directing students and parents
through the registration process. Registration areas include outstanding fines, class
schedules/locker assignments, student photos and ID cards, student planners, PTSA,
Band Boosters, Athletic Boosters, Senior All Night Party, Yearbook, and Textbook
check out.

Our next PTSA meeting will be held on May 25, 2016 @ 7 pm in the Media Center.
