Prompt: After watching the video of Beyonc Formation at the super bowl 2016 and reading the book
To Kill a Mockingbird, we will be conducting research that demonstrates the progression of The Civil
Rights Movement and how it has affected people till this day.
Expectations:
- Times New Roman 12-point font
- You are to turn in a concept map and an outline
o You will use the concept maps for the text and your sources
The concept maps will allow you to see the Bias, Audience, and Arguments in
every text
- 5 paragraph Essay
o Introduction
o 2 Body paragraphs
o 1 Counter argument paragraph
o Conclusion
- Include a thesis (Your argument describing how you feel The Civil Rights Movement has

- You need to find at least two outside sources
Purpose & Audience:
The purpose of this assignment is to get you involved in currents events but also to help you understand
history. As the students you will be more likely to engage in the Unit if you can relate to the text. The
audience for this unit and assignment will be myself as the teacher and your classmates.
Informational Literacies:
We will be conducting research at the library and in the computer lab. We will be using the internet to
watch Beyoncs performance and analyze the importance of the images presented in the performance at
the Super bowl. We will also use the movie of To Kill a Mockingbird to analyze the research question
presented for this writing assignment. We will be using google, google scholar, and JSTOR.
