We are excited for warm weather and

opportunities to be outside and active! Even a few
minutes walking every day can make a big difference
for our health. WWC is available to assist you with your
fitness goals, so please keep us in mind.
Back in April, Wendy, Erika and Abby traveled
to Kansas City for the Functional Aging Certification
Conference. Wendy and Erika have both taken the test
and passed, becoming two of 325 in the U.S. to achieve
this certification, and 2 of only 5 in Kansas. We are the
only individuals in Wichita to hold this certification!
Abby will also take the test and become certified after
her finals at WSU are completed.
In June, Wendy will attend the Functional Aging
Summit in Phoenix, AZ. This conference is a follow up
to the Functional Aging Institute Certification that
Wendy acquired, as mentioned above. This should be
another wonderful opportunity to learn, and to meet
with likeminded individuals who specialize in senior and
specialized fitness.
This summer, WWC will have Caity, a recent high
school graduate assisting in the office and to basically
keep Wendy sane." She is very talented and will have
many responsibilities. Help us welcome her to the
staff. Her first day will be late May, 2016.

WENDY'S WORD
Wow, school is almost over for another year and WWC finds ourselves rooting for
Diamond and Abigail to finish strong. Neither will have any problem and we are so
blessed to have both with us at WWC. Congrats to all for graduating and accomplishing
another milestone in their academic world.
Speaking of academics or certifications, we are most pleased with another certification
under our belt being the Functional Aging Specialist. I believe the study will help us
and compliment what we are experiencing in WWC. This is actually a new certification
and rapidly growing across the world. It is my understanding that we are a first in
Wichita and that is a feather in our cap.
With summer upon us, I am really excited to have Caity with us to keep us going. Little
does she know all that she will be doing. She will head to K-State this fall to pursue her
education but until then she will be with us 3-4 mornings a week.
We are still pursuing interviews for personal training here in the studio. While Erica and I
are doing well, another trainer would help in the growth we are experiencing and meet
the appointment demands as well. If you know of anyone, please let us know.
Please dont forget the class we are offering on Friday mornings at WWC. The no cost
Pilates class is open for any current and former clients for the time being. Kim brings an

enormous experience to the class and we are

pleased to have her with us.
Enjoy the warmer temperatures and get outside
and MOVE!! Thank you for all of your ongoing
support. We are so grateful.

BRUSCHETTA RECIPE by Ree Drummond

Ingredients
4 TBSP Olive Oil
5 cloves garlic
1 pint red grape tomatoes, halved lengthwise
1 pint yellow grape tomatoes, halved lengthwise
1TBSP Balsamic Vinegar
16 Whole fresh basil leaves, plus more as needed
Salt & freshly ground pepper
1 whole baguette or crusty loaf
1 stick butter

Directions
In a small skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and stir, lightly
frying for about a minute, removing before the garlic gets too brown (it can be golden).
Pour the garlic and oil into a mixing bowl and allow to cool slightly.
Add the red and yellow tomatoes, balsamic and basil to the bowl. Sprinkle with salt and
pepper.
Toss to combine, and then taste and add more basil if needed, and more salt if needed
(don't over salt, though!) Cover and refrigerate for an hour or two if you have the time.
Cut the baguette into diagonal slices to allow for the most surface area possible. Melt 4
tablespoons of the butter in a large skillet and grill half the bread on both sides, making
sure they're nice and buttery. Cook until golden brown on both sides. Repeat with the
remaining 4 tablespoons butter and the other half of the bread.
To serve, give the tomato mixture a final stir, and then spoon generously over the slices
of bread. Serve on a big platter as a first course or appetizer.
Enjoy!
