THE CLINICAL PASTORAL

CENTRE OF TORONTO

TRAINING

The CPE/CPT program at The Clinical Pastoral

Training Centre is sponsored by Brownes
Professional Ethics Consultation Services, Inc., a
private, Toronto-based company committed to
providing training and consultation services to
institutions, professionals and persons in need. The
Centre utilizes the adult action/reaction/reflection
learning process, which is central to clinical training.
One of the basic tenets of CPE/CPT is that trainees
are involved in hands on, direct, experiential
learning as they minister to people and reflect on
their actions and reactions during these care giving
experiences.
It is not primarily academic or
classroom learning, although it has a didactic
component to it. The primary textbook of the
program is the reading of the living human
document within the trainees clinical or ministry
context. CPTC trainees learn to reflect on their
involvement with persons who are in crisis due to
illnesses, disasters, traumas, and/or life changing
events. By reflecting on and analyzing these
experiences with their peers and supervisor,
trainees are provided with the necessary tools to
enhance their pastoral functioning in their area of
specialization.

ONLINE ACCESS
Online access is available to trainees. Trainees
will be able to access training online through
Zoom teleconferencing application on their
computers or other devises. For online access
to work seamlessly, trainees need to have the
required online speed and equipment. This may
require extra costs. These extra costs may offset
traveling costs to the centre
