Mitchell, L. S. (1950). Our children and our schools; a picture and analysis of how
today's public school teachers are meeting the challenge of new knowledge and new
cultural needs. New York: Simon and Schuster

The book focuses on the extensive work of a group of professionals, Bank Street, who have
bound themselves together for research, teaching of children, teacher education, and
professional improvement. The author of this book writes about the twelve early
experimental schools in which she worked with. The various parts of the book are as follows:
what our schools are leaving, our public schools in action, broad learnings and implications
of workshop experience, and lastly what next. Following the end of these chapters is
examples of methods to use with different grade levels in the classroom. This book informs
the readers on the development of the school system and how it needs to change for the
future.
