Pass and Move

This week Ajax Cape Town shows us a drill

for your team to practise passing and moving
while anticipating where the next pass is
coming from.

Organizing the drill:

Diagram A
Place 6 players on the outside
of the Centre Circle as shown in
Diagram A.
Place 6 players on the inside
of the Centre Circle as shown in
Diagram A.
Each player on the inside of the
circle must have a ball ready to
start the drill.

Practising the drill:

Diagram B
Players on the inside start to
dribble in the circle in random directions.
On the coachs instruction, the
players with the ball must pass

from another player using your

peripheral vision and seeing
where the next pass is coming
from. Calling and showing for
the ball clearly is very important.

the ball to a player on the outside of the circle, making sure

they dont pass to the same
person.
The inside players must now
wait for the return pass from
the outside players.

Coachs Note

Diagram C
In seeking the return pass from
the outside player, the inside
player will move into an area
where the outside player passes
the ball.
No inside player must receive a
ball from the outside player he
originally passed to.
The object of the drill is to pass
and move and anticipate a pass

The area is quite small to move

quickly around in. Players must
be aware of other players
around them at all times.
When seeking to receive a pass
from the outside players, the
inside players must always
anticipate where they will receive
the ball or one-two pass.
Good players know where the
ball is, great players anticipate
where the ball will be going.
