Time Range: 30-40 minutes
Materials needed:
paper (for word match)
White board or overhead
Worksheet
Anticipatory set: ask for any background knowledge
Opening:
1) Students will be able to correctly display their understanding of the lesson by
matching words as a group and getting them all accurate.
2) Relevency: Students will have a deeper understanding of the english language
and how some words are formed.
Modeling: I will begin writing a sentence on the board as the students follow along stopping me
when they see a compound word. We will read the word together and go over what it means.
Guided Practice: same as model
Independent Practice:
Students will get with their group and match 2 halves of words written on eggs correctly.
Assessment:
Students will complete a worksheet matching a word to a photo to display their understanding.
Closure:
I will go over with them again what a compound word is and how they are formed.
