Language Objectives

Through this activity, students practice their communication skills along with their creative
thinking literacy skills. Students are demanded to develop their language syntax through

creation of their story. Students are creating multiple sentences that are connecting to the
same topic. Through the activity, students will are asked to developed productive
language skill of speaking and for some students writing.

Story Book: Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig, Shadow puppets of three little
pigs with some scene, Chart paper, drawing paper, pencil markers, Black and multicolor
construction paper, scissors, popsicle sticks, glue, scissor, large white cloth, flashlight,
performers, audience, smiles

Anticipatory Set (Connection/Motivation)


Review of the previous lesson on identifying the character.
Instruction/Mini Lesson
Have student identify the character from "The Three Little Wolves and the Big
Bad Pig". Have the class identify the character within the story. Discuss with the
students what are some distinctive features of each characters. Explain to the

class that characters all have physical characteristics. Pigs have pointy ears, round bodies
and curly tails. Wolves have furry tails, big noses and claws.
Explain to the class that they will be creating their own character for a story they will
make. Explain that the characters all have physical features so their characters must have
some physical features. If the character is a pig, it must have some physical features of a
pig like snout, pointy ears or a curly tail. If the character was a person, it must have hair,

fingers, feet etc.

The teacher will create a character in front of the students. Have students input into the
character design. Ask student Mmm. How many arms should my character have?
Where should I place the head? Make sure the students are having fun during the
process of creating the teachers character. Teacher will draw the character on the board to
show the character.
(We Do)
Have the class create a character during the lesson, Draw the character on a
construction paper. Cut out the character and glue it onto a popsicle stick. Show
the class the character that the class designed. Use a flashlight to shine on the
back covering of the puppet stage and show the class the shadow puppet.
Explain to the class that you will be interested in what the students create.
Independent Practice

Students will first create their character using paper to draft out their character. After
creating a draft of the character, they will transfer their character creation onto black
construction paper. After student have drawn their character on the black construction
paper, have students cut the outline of the character and glue popsicle sticks on the bottom
of the shadow puppets. Allow the puppet to dry.
Closure (sharing/reflection, next steps)
For the next step, students will be creating a story for their characters.

student keep the index card for review. .

As a follow up activity, students will create a story for the character they made
today.

Prior to the lesson, the class has been learning about light. The
previous lesson, students were exploring how shadows is created. In

this lesson, students continue to explore how shadows work as an


indirect lesson. This will allow students to continue to explore shadows
but also introduce themselves to story development.
