Jonas was at the Annex room for the first time and had his first
experience of getting the memory. He was on a hill, riding a sled, and went
down the hill and he felt exhilarated. He was having lots of fun, but the ride
shortened and went to the end of the hill and stopped. He opened his eyes
in the Annex room and the giver and him talked about what he saw. he had
had a transmission of the words snow, sled, and hill. he has to lie to his
parents for the first time, another thing is Jonas learns how to recall
memories. Jonas learned that he couldnt talk about his work with his family
unit and friends . He also saw Fionas hair change to red. Jonas learned
the colors of the rainbow and started seeing them in his everyday life, he
only saw glimpses of the colors but he still saw them. He got angry that
there were no colors anywhere because the community went into
sameness. He had a memory of a rainbow and learned that the community
makes things happen for a reason, like letting people make their own
choices. He tried to make asher see the colors of the flowers outside of the
Hall of Open Records. The giver had now given the memory of real pain.
It was the memory of warfare. When Jonas was asleep he had saw lots of
people and animals in need for water but Jonas couldnt help them at all
but then soon enough Jonas had finally experience death. After the
memory was done the giver turned to Jonas and said Im sorry. Jonass
parents have been wanting Jonas to take his pill. But Jonas doesn't feel
that he needs to. So he takes all of the pills and just throws them in the
trash . He wants to have the Stirrings and doesnt want to lose the dreams
and thoughts he has. But Jonass parents want him to lose his Stirrings and
all of the thoughts that he had.
