PE Reflection

To teach PE, teachers will need to understand the changes and limits of their students
bodies. They will need to know which activities are appropriate for their age group and which
activities can harm the students. Nutrition and motivation skills will also be needed. Teachers
must teach the importance of being healthy to students and the community. Teacher must also
know different cool down and warm up activities to ensure that students dont hurt themselves.
In my Kin 425 class, we learned about teaching PE to students. We learned different
techniques and strategies to incorporate PE in the daily lessons and how to encourage students
and their families to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The framework mentioned that students at
different grade levels are developing differently, and some activities are not appropriate for
certain grade levels. Kin 425 taught me which activities to use in each grade level and ways to
modify the activity for handicapped or special needs students.
My artifact is a lesson plan for a lesson I taught to a second grade class. This lesson plan
has activities that show my understanding of activities to do with students. These activities are
done in ten second intervals followed my stretching exercises. This is done so that students do
not get bored and to minimize strain on their body.
