Assignment L Figure below shows a tank of oil with one side open to the atmosphere and the other side sealed with air above the oil. The oil has specific gravity of 0.9. Calculate the gage pressure at point 4, B,C 0, E and Fand the air pressure in the right side of the tank. Water flows from section 1 to section 2 in the pipe. At section 1, the pipe is 0.1m diameter size and fluid flow at pressure is 300 kPa and velocity = 2m/s. At section 2, which is 2m below section 1, the pipe diameter is 50 mm. Determine tle velocity of flow and the fluid at section @ Assume the total head loss from section 1 to section 2 is 3m. ‘A pump is used to push the water upward from a horizontal 3-in Schedule 40 steel pipe A (p=-28 kPa) to the vertical 2-in Schedule 40 steel pipe B. The pressure of the fluid shown in the vertical Pipeline with 1 m high is 296 kPa. The volume flowrate through the pump is 0.014 m3/s. The fluid being pumped is oll with a specific gravity of 0.86. Calculate the energy delivered by the pump to the oil per unit weight of oil flowing in the system. Energy losses in the system are caused by the check valve (Which attached next to the pump) and friction losses as the fluid flows through the piping, The magnitude of such losses has been determined to be 1.86 N m/N. ‘Assume that the pump has an efficiency of 82 %, calculate the power input ta the pump. Determine the friction factor, fif ethyl alcohol at 25°C is flowing at 5.3 m/s in a standard 1.5-in Schedule 80 steel pipe. A venturi tube of the Herschel type is being used to measure the flow rate of water at 60°C. The flow enters from the left in a 5 in Schedule 40 steel pipe. The throat diameter d is 56mm. The venture is rough cast. The manometer fluid is mercury (sg=13.54) and the deflection h is 180 mm. Compute the velocity of flow in the pipe and the volume flowrate. An orifice meter consisting of 10 cm diameter orifice in a 25 cm diameter pipe has coefficient of 0.65, The pipe delivers oil of 0.8 specific gravity. The pressure difference on the two sides of the orifice plate is measured by a mercury oil differential manometer. If the differential gauge reads 80 cm of mercury, calculate the rate of flow in L/s
