Mission Statement
The mission of the Freshman transition program is to create a smooth, streamlined transition for 9 th grade students as they make
the difficult transition from elementary school to high school. Through targeted social, behavioral, and academic interventions,
students will develop characteristics and attitudes that lead to success in all aspects of student life. Communication between the
high school and elementary schools will be enhanced through student-driven experiences that improve the readiness of incoming
freshmen for the rigors of high school expectations. Student career and college readiness will improve as students demonstrate
greater application of the Expected Schoolwide Learning Results and improved academic performance.
Vision Statement
The freshman transition team believes that all students can experience social, behavioral, and academic success. Through the
use of support systems and structured intervention, students will be uplifted and inspired to achieve their personal best in every
avenue of their education. We aspire to achieve greater participation in a well-rounded high school experience through
involvement in extra-curricular activities, greater graduation rates, and a higher level of college preparation and acceptance.
