understandwhothesuspectis,howthecrimewasdone,howtomatchabullettoagun,howto
matchafingerprinttoaperson,etc.Therearedifferentbranchesofforensicssuchas,forensic
anthropology,ballistics,DNA,forensicpsychology,andmore.
ForensicAnthropologyallowsyoutodeterminethesexofapersoninaninvestigation.
Forexample,forensicanthropologists,candeterminesomeonessexbyexaminingthepelvic
bone.Afemalespelvicboneiswiderwhilethemalespelvicboneisnarrow.Ifaskeletonwas
lyingonthegroundandhadawidepelvicboneyouwouldknowthebonesbelongedtoafemale.
Aforensicanthropologistsissomeonewhoworkswithlawenforcementandhelpsinskeletal
evidence.

Anotherforensicsciencebranchisinvestigativemisconduct.Thisbranchallowsyouto
understandthepsychologybehindcoveringupandfakingevidence,waysinvestigatorscanmess
upduringaninvestigation,howforensicscanbeunreliable.Heresanexampleofforensic
sciencebeingunreliable:Ifyouwereaninvestigatoratacrimesceneandtheperpetratorwas
bleedingwhilethemurderwascommitted,hisbloodwouldbeonthesceneaswellasthe
