DISASTER:
A serious disruption of the functioning of society, causing
widespread damage which exceed the ability to cope up using its own
resources.
EMERGENCY :
A serious, unexpected and after dangerous situation requiring
immediate action.
Disaster Emergency Management:
An event or process required immediately to cope with the
potentially widespread impact made by the disaster.

IMPACT ASSESSMENT

IMPACT: Any change (benificial or adverse) in the environment (social


or biophysical) as a result of human activity.
IIMPACT ASSESSMENT: Aim to align/combine a number of
established assessment techniques (Ex Economic Impact Assessment +
Social Impact Assessment), and/or to compare/explore
interrelationships between themes (Ex Biophysical and Social)

Disasters Impact various dimensions of human life both long term


and short term lasting.

They can cause huge damage to human life, living conditions, social
relationships, goods and service, economic endeavours, assets and
environment.
