SUMMER HOMEWORK:
Folder will be sent home next
week
Math:
Math homework book: pg. 249-296 This
will be due to your childs teacher at the
beginning of first grade.
We will also be sending home passwords to
the IXL app that we use in school to practice
math skills. We encourage you to take
advantage of this app that our school has paid
for student access.

Language Arts:
We will send home a summer work folder for
LA. This will not need to be turned in, but is
strongly encouraged to benefit students.
Keep up with reading this summer with easy
reader books from the library! If your child
struggles with more than a few words on the
pages, it is probably too difficult, but the book
would still be a great book to read aloud
together with your child! We cannot stress
enough though, how you must keep up with
the reading over the summer.

What We Are Learning

Writing: We have been completing our friendship books
and wrote some pages for our memory book that we have
been making for the children this year.
Math: 3D Shapes, Introduction to time to the hour
Reading: During the last few weeks, students have
completed the Kindergarten FAST reading series and
have started to read in the FAST Tales of Youth Series for
1st graders. We are so proud of these kids!
Religion: We Celebrate that Jesus is our Friend
Handwriting: Review
Science: Finishing up our plant/seeds unit. After our visit
to the planetarium at the Science Center last week, a lot of
the kids were interested in the Solar System! We did a

Graduation and Picnic

June 2nd is the day set aside for kindergarten graduation.
Children do not have school that day; they come to the
classroom at approximately 10:15. The ceremony will begin
in the church at 10:30. Students should come dressed in
their Sunday Best. All families, grandparents, etc. are
invited to come. Older siblings may attend, however, prior
notice must be given to their teacher, and they will be
dismissed from class at approx. 10:25. The children will
receive their report cards and diplomas on Thursday during
the graduation ceremony
The class picnic will be 12-2pm at Shores Park. Most
children change into play clothes before the picnic starts. If
you are attending, please plan to sign up to bring an item. A
signupgenius.com email was sent this week.

Graduation marks the end of our year!

School Registration
Thank you to families who have
registered for 2016-17 school year. If
those of you who have not yet
registered are thinking there is no
sense of urgency and you can always
register later; please be aware that
there are important decisions that
need to be made soon and will be
based on number of registrations
(ordering materials, books, etc.)

Kindergarten children do not participate in field day. K

families are invited to church on June 9th for the final
school mass of the year and would be able to
participate in the Move up Ceremony with the rest of
the school. This celebration is when the children say
goodbye to their current grades teacher, and then
move to sit with their new grades teacher. We will not
be sitting together as a class for this mass. If the
children come to school on that day, they go directly to
the church and sit with you, their parents.
End of the Year
Over the next couple of days, we will be sending home many
and varied things. We will be sending home the kids math
books and religion books. Dont be alarmed that there are still
pages. We assure you that curriculum has been covered. Allow
the children to use the texts to play school or review skills. We
will also be sending home some assessments that we have
used throughout the year as documentation and record keeping
for students progress - they include notes to ourselves for what
we need to work on or help children master. Much of the artwork
and projects will be taken down and sent home, but we will try to
make sure everything else finds its way to the rightful owners.
Finally, we will send home the childrens journals. This serves
as a lovely portfolio of their academic growth through the year.
We used it for language arts, religion, and printing. We would
encourage you to help your child to keep using it.
