Another horror movie coming out this October 16 is Goosebumps based on the popular 90s horror book series.
The movie is about a teen that moves to a new town where he
meets with his English teachers daughter. The teen fears that the
girl is in terrible danger because of her fathers erratic behavior.
The teenager and his friend sneak into the house to save the
teachers daughter and accidentally lets all the monsters out of
their manuscripts.
The funny thing about the long awaited Goosebumps movie
is that director Tim Burton originally dropped out of the project
saying he couldnt make it scary enough to give the franchise
the credit it deserves. Now the new movie is ironically doing the
exact opposite, being marketed as a goofy kid-friendly comedy
starring Jake Black.
Its understandable that the movie would be kid friendly
because the age group is going to be for 9-20 to attract new fans
and to please the older ones.
Strangely, even though the Goosebumps books and TV
show was hysterical at times it still had its dark and disturbing
moments. Horror movies attracted a younger age group at that
time. The Goosebumps book series served as a way kids could
get away with reading horror without worrying if their parents
would confiscate it like A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The new Goosebumps movie will satisfy their older fan
base. It makes a lot of references from the most popular books in
the series like the giant praying mantis from Shocker on Shock
Street. There are also references from rare books like the vampire poodle in Give Yourself Goosebumps - Please Don t Feed
The Vampire.
The other horror movies that are coming out this October
are Crimson Peak, Tales of Halloween, Bone Tomahawk,
Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, and The Last
Witch Hunter.
Whether or not watching Horror movies is your preference,
the annual fright fest is an honored tradition in the October
season.
