Goal Setting for Student Progress Form

TEACHER MID-YEAR REVIEW REPORT

Teacher: Shanique Goshay School: PC

School Year: 2015-2016

SMART GOAL: My goal is to increase student reading levels by one year as measured by a leveled text.

(PALS, DRA, or Reading Recovery)

Mid-Year Review (Describe goal progress and other relevant data)

Fall Base Line Data:

In my classroom, upon giving the Fall PALS test;

1 read Readiness (DRA Level 1) (RR 0)

5 read Preprimar A (DRA Level 3) (RR 3-4)
2 read Preprimar B (DRA Level 4) (RR 5-6)
6 read Preprimer C (DRA Levels 6-8) (RR 7-8)
3 Primer (DRA Levels 10-12) (RR9-12)
1 read First Grade or above (DRA Levels 14-16 or higher) (RR 17 or higher)

Mid -Year Data:

In my classroom, upon giving the Midyear PALS test, out of 16 students:
1 read Preprimer B (DRA Level 4) (RR 5-6)
7 read Primer (DRA Levels 10-12) (RR 9-12)
8 read First grade or above (DRA levels 14-16 or higher) (RR 17 or higher)
Data Analysis
By midyear, students are expected to be reading on the Primer level or above. Approximately 90% of
my students have met that expectation. In the fall I started with 20 students, 4 of those students moved
and I gained three new students before the midyear PALS. The one student who read at the preprimer
level, in the classroom this student was reading on the primer level. On the other hand, these measures
differ from my grades in that the PALS reading Level is a fresh read given to students without giving
any background knowledge or help with the text. Sometimes, the PALS reading levels turn out lower
than expected.
Interventions and Strategies
Literacy centers to promote reading, writing, and listening skills. (Read to Self, read to Someone,
Writing, Word Work and Listen to Reading. Differentiated spelling and reading groups. Focus on word
study and high-frequency word recognition. I meet with my lowest reading group daily and they receive
word study instruction from my instructional assistant on a daily basis. I have five reading groups and I

realized that the hour that is set for reading was not allowing me to meet with my reading groups as
much as I should, therefore, I have changed the afternoon routine to include two extra rounds of daily
five. This way allows me to incorporate mini lessons in between each daily five round to focus on a
particular sill as outlined in the pacing guide for English.
