How to calculate of diameter of pipe (API 14E, Page

21)
Gas 15%
6000 kg/hr

Crude Oil Basis

40000 kg/hr

V-001

Water 5%
2000 kg/hr

Oil 80%
32000 kg/hr

Gas is LNG. 99% of LNG is Methane (CH4)

Molecular Weight 16.04 kg/kgmol
So..
Molar flowrate = 6900/16.04 = 374.06 kgmol/hr
= 8977.56 kgmol/day
= 214922.69 L/day
= 24.49 SM 3/day
= 0.76 MMSCFD (Million Standard Cubic Feet per
Day)
Velocity is not excess 60 ft/s (API 14E, Page 21).. So to spec of client we take 50 ft/s
Compressibility Factor (Z) (1.013 bar and 15 C (59 F)) : 0.99802
So.. if we use 667.4 psia (40.02 bar) and 342.8 R) : 16.03
refer to equation

(petrowiki.org/Real_gases )

So.. to calculate diameter of pipe use equation (Refer API 14E, Page 22)
We can find the diameter of pipe.
d : 3.81 in, in manufacture ready of pipe is 4. So we use it.

How to calculate of Control Valve (Fisher Control

Valve Book, Page 122)
Service Condition:
W : 6000 kg/hr
P1 : 50 Bar
P2 : 40.02 Bar
P : 9.98 Bar
x : 0.10
T1 :: 342.8 OC
k : 1.31 (Spesific Heat)
1 : 10.14 lb/ft3 (Spesific Weight)
N6 : 27.3 (Table 3.2)
Determine Fp
N2 : 890
d:2
Cv : 72.9
K : 1.41
Fp : 0.33

Determine Y
Xt : 0.82
N5 : 1000 (Table 3.2)
Xtp : 5.62
Fk : 0.94
Y : 0.99
Determine Cv
Cv : 13.41
Refer to the manufacturers Flow Coefficient tables for Design ED valves with
linear cage. Because the assumed 2-inch valve has a Cv of 72.9 at 100-percent
travel and the next smaller size (1 1/2 inches) has a Cv of only 15.43, it can be
surmised that the assumed size is correct. In the event that the calculated required
Cv had been small enough to have been handled by the next smaller size or if it had
been larger than the rated Cv for the assumed size, it would have been necessary
to rework the problem again using values for the new assumed size.

How to calculate of diameter of pipe to compressor

(API 14E, Page 21)

Gas
6000 kg/hr

S001

Gas 80%
4800 kg/hr

Water 20%
1200 kg/hr
Gas is LNG. 99% of LNG is Methane (CH4)
Molecular Weight 16.04 kg/kgmol
So..
Molar flowrate = 5520/16.04 = 299.251 kgmol/hr
= 7182.04 kgmol/day
= 171938.1546 L/day
= 17.19 SM 3/day
= 0.61 MMSCFD (Million Standard Cubic Feet per
Day)
Velocity is not excess 60 ft/s (API 14E).. So to spec of client out of scrubber we take
48 ft/s
Compressibility Factor (Z) (1.013 bar and 15 C (59 F)) : 0.99802
So.. if we use 667.4 psia (35.00 bar) and 340 R) : 14.23
refer to equation

(petrowiki.org/Real_gases )

So.. to calculate diameter of pipe use equation (Refer API 14E, Page 22)
We can find the diameter of pipe.
d : 3.62 in, in manufacture ready of pipe is 4. So we use it.
