Anzac March and Anzac Appeal

The ANZAC Appeal and March were two events that commemorated the service of war
veterans and current serving army personnel. It also allowed the Gifted and Talented team to
connect with the wider community. The purpose of the ANZAC Appeal is to raise funds to
support former and current serving members of the Australian defence forces, their allies
and people who depend on others when in need. The organization also supports troops
serving overseas by providing comfort parcels, assisting wounded defence personnel and
their families to recover from the injuries sustained during combat.
The ANZAC Appeal begins in early April and runs up until ANZAC Day on 25 April. ANZAC
badges are sold to raise funds for the ANZAC Appeal. The badges are available in different
designs that ranged from $1 - $50. The school purchased many pens and badges from the
Ingleburn RSL and raised a total of $250 for the ANZAC Appeal. The aim of selling the
badges and pens was to encourage both the students and teachers to buy the merchandise
and wear it with pride on this ANZAC Day.

Another significant event that occurred was the ANZAC Day March, which takes place on the
25th of April every year at Mawson Park. This year was especially meaningful as it marked
101 years since the boats landed on Anzac Cove. The day consisted of fifty student
representatives from our school that participated in the Anzac Day March and the
commemorative service that followed. The traditions of the Anzac Day March stayed alive
through the laying of the wreaths and through the ode. Many students wore their relatives
badges with pride to show the service of those men and women. Overall, the day was
successful in fulfilling the need to remember and honour the sacrifice of the men and women
who served in war and to commend them on their achievements.
