Journal on The Palace Burner and The Yellow Wallpaper

The narrator in The Yellow Wallpaper is the main character of the

story, yet in the Palace Burner, this is not the case. The narrator in the
Palace Burner is observing the events that had happened from a
newspaper and interpreting it, while the narrator in the Yellow
Wallpaper is speaking of her own experiences. They both make deeper
meanings of the events that had happened which is a connection
between them. The narrators discuss the position of women and how
they are supposed to fit into society. This indicates the social
constructs near the end of the 19th century as women had to abide by
their husband, but there was instances when women stood out like in
these stories. The narrators indicated this.
The characters in both of these stories stood out from the norm.
This was against the social norms of the late 19th century. In the Yellow
Wallpaper, the woman was very different from what typical women of
this time were supposed to be. In the Burning Palace, the women that
had burned the palace proved that she was brave, and she stood out
from the rest of the women around this time.
