Investigations in Science 7 May 20, 2016

What we did this week:

Because of our change in schedule of PARCC, I have seen different classes
for different amounts of time throughout the week. Below is a generalization of
what most of the classes completed however some classes are further behind than
others and will complete some of these activities next week.
We started off the week by reviewing for the relative age quiz and
completing the assessment.
We turned our attention to mass extinctions. Mass extinctions are when a
large number of species become extinct over a short period of time. Each student
was assigned one of the 5 mass extinctions to research. The research was on when
it happened, what caused it to happen (in some cases there were multiple theories),
what animals went extinct, and what animals evolved/survived the extinction.
Groups then created a google slide presentation to share their information with
other groups. We also began to look at the 6th mass extinction occurring now that
humans are causing.
