GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION:

Summer Boot Camp Course at Howard University Human Anatomy

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Anatomy is the language of medicine. It is a constant science that is the


knowledge base for all clinicians and practitioners. The course is designed to
deliver a robust overview of basic human anatomy to enhance students
understanding of key topics needed for advanced studies. Topics will include
both hard and soft tissue: skeletal system (axial and appendicular), muscles
(major), and organs (brain, heart, and lung).
PREREQUISITES:

No prerequisites are needed for this course.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION:

Course material is conveyed using lectures, PowerPoints, videos, open


discussion, and two hands-on laboratory sessions.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1. Understand what anatomy is and why it is important


2. Be able to identify and discuss basic human anatomy
3. Be able to logically associate the onset of typical disease or injury to
anatomical change
GRADING

There will be a quiz administered at the end of class, grading is as follows:

100 90 = A
89 80 = B
79 70 = C
69 60 = D
59 and below = F

CLASSROOM CONDUCT:

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is conducive to


learning. Electronic devices are potential distractions in the classroom
environment. Cell phones, pagers and other handheld devices must be turned off
or set to "silent" mode and not used while class is in session. Laptop computers
and similar devices will be required for use related to classroom activities.
