Formanywomen,havingachildbringsonmanynewandverydifferentprioritiesand
rights.Afterhavingachildthewomanmusttakecareofthemnonstopeveryday,allday.They
needchangedeverytimetheygotothebathroomandneedfedeverytwohours.Everymother
alwayshopesforsomepeaceandquietorsometimetorelaxandgetoutofthehouse.
Sometimesgettingoutmeanstakingthebabyalongandwhenthechildneedsfedthemotherwill
havetobreastfeed.Thiscanseemunciviltoanybystanderswalkingbyorinthevicinityand
mothersoftengetdisgustedlooksorrudecomments.Thisisntright.
Womenmustbeableto
breastfeedtheirchildreninpublicbecauseallhumanbeingsneedtoeat,breastmilkprovides
necessaryproteinsandenzymesthatfighthealthrisk,andwomenhavetherighttobeamother.
Breastfeedinghasmanydifferentbenefitsforthebaby.Babiesrequiretobefedtento
twelvetimesaday(KellyBonyata,1996).Breastmilkprovidesmanydifferenttypesof
protections.Itprotectsagainstcoldsandtheflu,aswellasearandrespiratoryinfections,and
finallypneumoniaanddiarrhea(ABCNews,2016).Breastmilkcontainsenzymesandother
proteinsnecessaryforthechild'sgrowthanddevelopment.Breastmilkprovideslongterm
protectionfromtypeIdiabetes,celiacdisease,andCrohnsdisease.Theseareallveryserious
conditionsthatcanhappentoyoungchildrenandhaverealeffectsontheirlives.Theriskof
SIDS,alsoknownasSuddenInfantDeathSyndrome,canbereducedbyaround50%justby

breastfeeding(fitPregnancy,2016).Boththebabyandthemotherhavebetterchancesofnot
becomingobesefrombreastfeeding.Likehelpingwithobesity,breastfeedingnotonlyhelpsthe
childwhoisfeeding,italsohelpsthemotheraswell.Whenawomanislactatingandpregnant
sheisabletoabsorbcalcium,makingherbonesstrongerandabletosupportcarryingthechild
duringhergestationperiod(fitPregnancy,2016).Amothersbreastmilkcontainstwentycalories
perounce(fitPregnancy,2016)sointurnamothercanburncaloriesjustbybreastfeedingher
child.Forexample,breastfeedingtwentyfiveouncesadaymeansamotherwouldburn500
calorieswhichistheequivalentofalargefryfromMcDonald's(CalorieKing.com,2016).After
havingthebaby,breastfeedingcausestheuterustocontractwhichhelpsittohealfasterand
returntonormalsize.Breastfeedingevenfightsthechanceofbreastcancer(fitPregnancy,2016).
Allofthesebenefitsofbreastfeedingarewhywomenshouldbeallowedtobreastfeedingin
public.Allowingthemtoopenlybreastfeedinpublicpromotesbreastfeedingwhichinreturn
makesboththemotherandchildhealthier.Breastmilksupplementsandformulasarenotthe
bestoptionsforanychild.
Babyformulacanbeharmfultoanychildbeingfedit.Formulaandotherbreastmilk
supplementsdonotcontaintheimportantnecessitieslikeproteinsandenzymesmadeforbabies,
aremostlymadeupofsugars,oils,andproteinsfromcow'smilk,soy,orwheat(Lactivist.com,

ofBreastmilksubstitutes(JuneBrady,2012).Breastmilkformulaisverybadforchildren.

Womenwhocanbreastfeedinpublicwillmakethetrendofbreastfeedinggrow.Thiswill
increasetheamountofchildrensavedfromdeathandsaveevenmorefamiliesfromheartbreak,
andnottomentionthebabieswillbemuchhealthier.Womenhavetherighttobreastfeedingin
publicandnotbejudged.
Womenhavemanydifferentrightsallowingthemtobreastfeedinpublic.Moststates
havenolawssayingpublicbreastfeedingiswrongoruncivil.47ofthe50stateshavenolawsor
restrictionsonpublicbreastfeeding(TheHuffingtonPost,2016).Ifwomenhavetherightwhyis
itseenasnotokayorunciviltobreastfeedinpublic.Inastoryonthe
HuffingtonPost
,awoman
wasbreastfeedingonapublicairlineflight.Aflightattendantaskedherhusbandifthetwowere
togetherandafterthehusbandansweredyeshethrewablanketathimandsaid,Herehelpher
out.Thewomanwasoutragedandpromptlyasked,Helpmeoutwithwhat.Theattendant
ignoredherandeventuallyanotherpassengeranswered,becauseyourebreastfeeding.This
madethewomanfeelveryuncomfortable(TheHuffingtonPost,2016).Womenshouldneverbe
humiliatedinpubliclikethis.SincetherearenolawsorveryfewlawsintheUnitedStatesof
Americaaboutpublicbreastfeeding,womenshouldfeelcomfortabletobreastfeedwheneverthey
seefitwithhowevermuchcoveragetheyarecomfortablewith.
Sadly
noteveryonefeelsthis
way.
Somepeopleseepublicbreastfeedingassomethingthatshouldnotexist.Peopleoftensee
breastfeedingaspublicindecencyornudity.Thisiswheremuchofthecontroversyover
breastfeedinghappens.Peopleseemtofeeluncomfortablearoundawomanwhohasherbreast
uncovered.Somepeoplethinkthattheirarecertainplacesthatbreastfeedingshouldnotbe
allowed,suchasparks,restaurants,movietheaters,libraries,andmallorgrocerystores.Women

whoarenotfullyclothedareoftenthoughtofasslutyandsometimearecalledawhoreintoday's
society.Sowomenwhoarerevealingthemselvestobreastfeedareoftenassimilatedwiththese
names.Thiscanmakethewomenbreastfeedingselfconsciousofthemselvesleadingto
depression.Allofthesereasonsdonotmeanpublicbreastfeedingshouldbefrowneduponor
thoughtofasindecent.
Whatisthedifferencebetweensomeonewearingashirtthatshowscleavageorabikini
top.Theyexposetheirbodiesmorethanabreastfeedingwoman.Mostwomenwhobreastfeed
arecoveredormostlycoveredbyablanketoraspecialkindofshirtmadeforbreastfeeding.In
theUnitedStatesofAmericaeveryonehascertainfreedomsandrights.Itisawoman'sown
choiceonwhetherornottheybreastfeedinpublic.Itistheirbodyandtheirchild.Anywoman
candressherselfanywaysthatshelikes.Breastfeedingismuchhealthierandsaferthanusing
formula.Breastfeedingpreventsandprotectsagainstsomuch.Whenwomencanbreastfeedin
publicwithoutdirtylooksandrudecomments,itwillhelptopromotebreastfeeding.
Breastfeedinginpublicmeansthatbabieshaveabigchanceatlivingalong,happy,healthylives
withtheirfamilies.
Publicbreastfeedinginaverycontroversialissue.Womenalreadyhavetherightto
breastfeedtheirchildreninpublicplaces,buttheyshouldnotgetcalledrudenames,toldharmful
comments,orgivendirtylooks.Itistherightofanymothertobreastfeedherchildsowhyare
peopledenyingthemtherighttodosoinpublicplacesoronpublictransportation?Womenneed
tobreastfeedtheirchildrensooftenthattheyhavetotakethemwiththemwhentheygooutto
thestoreorjusttogetoutofthehouse.Pictureababyscreamingafussingbecauseheshungry.
Sothemotherstartstobreastfeed.Thenamancomesupandstarttotellhertocoverupeven
