Lajamanu Teaching Practicum Reflection

Friday 29.4.16
Descriptive Reflection Reading Group
This morning I ran a lower end reading group, consisting of Vincent,
Charlita and Tessa/Ruby. Theyre on PM Level 2 Readers. We read the book
together, then they read it separately. Afterwards, we played a game of
memory, using mostly sight words, with some bigger vocabulary from the
book included.
What is happening?
Charlita is reading the words, perhaps already knows them, but is pointing
to other words. Tessa/Ruby is reading quietly, I can hear that she knows
most of the words but struggles with words such as said. Vincent is easily
distracted and needs constant redirection to task.
Is this working and for whom?
This book is working for the group, I think we could have it until the middle
of next week.

20.5.16

Pros my reflection

Cons my reflection

Pros Natalie mentor feedback

The lesson was well thought out for
complexity level. With Janine
managing with a little bit of effort,
Joselina with help. I could see how it
could have fit the 3 classes and a
20min session.

Cons Natalie mentor feedback

The kids were very restless.
Probably could have tried to get
Roman more focused.

The recovery from the lost sheet

was done well.
Liked the quite personal Joselina
redirect.
They were very restless and with
the waterslide out the window what
you achieved was very good.

The keeping

Probably could have sat at tables

with small groups that can
sometimes refocus them.
Need a conclusion though we left
late for assembly.
