Abstract
In Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Macbeth, Shakespeare utilizes the aversion of
gender roles and display of greed. Lady Macbeth, a dominant in her marriage, forces
her husband to kill the lands king in order to gain power. Normally Macbeth would
have never done this action but his wife's constant questioning of his masculinity
drives him to commit heinous crimes. In totality Shakespeare does this because he
wants to defy gender roles and shock his audiences.
