Fill In The Gaps And Landforms

Explanation
Fill in the gaps
Humans (biosphere) built a dam out of rock materials
(geosphere).
Water in the lake (hydrosphere) seeps into the cliff walls behind
the dam, becoming groundwater (geosphere), or evaporating into
the air (atmosphere).
Humans (biosphere) harness energy from the water (hydrosphere)
by having it spin turbines to produce electricity.

What is a valley
Valleys or natural depressions are areas of low lying land, usually
between two mountains/mountain ranges. They are often
occupied by rivers or streams that eventually flow out from the
valley into the ocean. There are multiple ways that valleys can be
formed.
Firstly, a valley can be created by a river.A river flowing through
mountains usually causes gradual erosion in the rock and soil.
Over millions of years, a valley is formed between the mountains.
Often, it will start of narrow and small, but over time widen due to
more erosion caused by the river. The majority of the valleys in
the world are made this way.
Rivers are not the only way valleys have been formed, however.
Thousands of years ago, most of the world was covered with
gigantic glaciers. When these glaciers moved, they scraped away
the huge amounts of earth that stood in their path, leaving

valleys in their place. This incredible occurrence can still happen

today.
Another way for valleys to form is through the movement of
tectonic plates under the earths surface. These types of valleys,
commonly known as rift valleys, are formed when one plate slides
underneath another.
Canyons are also a type of valley. They are just like other valleys
except they have extremely steep, almost vertical sides. Usually,
canyons are made by rivers cutting through the rock and carrying
the rocky debri with them to the sea. Canyons can also be made
by mud-flow building up over a certain period of time. It is
believed that canyons usually form within a matter of days- much
quicker than most other types of valleys.
Valleys are amazing landforms that are used by animals, plants
and humans alike. They hold many useful resources and many
humans have built towns and villages within them. There are
multiple types of valleys, from canyons to rift valleys, but all of
them are fascinating and can be used for many different things.
