December 15th 2015: The Truth (Play

Reading Part Four)


Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes
Outcomes:
Materials:
journals
Pen/Pencil
Reading Duotang

Activities:
Prayer and Breathing
o Student will stand for prayer, facing the cross and
removing their hats. After prayer is done, students will sit
down but push themselves away from their desks, placing
their hands on their thighs and knees at 90 degrees.
Students will do the Balloon Breathing Exercise

Journal and Word of the Day


o Students will take out their journals and write on the topic
for 10 minutes. Students may need guidance and
assistance on their topic, before everyone starts I will
break down the topic. Student will be expected to write for
the full ten minutes. Afterwards they will write down the
word of the day in their lexicon.
Review of literary Terms
o We will go over the literary terms for the week. In the
PowerPoint and then individually. This will last about 10
minutes
Review of the book
o Students will used their notes to verbally review the play in
their groups. After five minutes of this students will be
asked to share. Each group will be asked about a different
part in the play.
Read Part 4
o Students will follow along as the students who are chosen
to read, read the play.
o Students will need to pay a lot of attention to Morgan in
this part as he reveals the truth. Miles also changes in this
scene.

o Students will mark down the changes to both character


and story in their booklets.
o When reading is done we will create a plot chart of the play

Read Deception can be Predicted


o Students will read the article on the fact that lies can
become the truth in peoples minds if it is repeated enough
o After reading in their groups students will write down the
message/meaning of the article and these will be shared.
Discussion
o As a class we will discuss why Morgan chose to tell this lie
to Angus and if students were in this position would they
do the same thing?
Character arc
o If time students will be separated into three groups. One
group will be for each character.
o On a large sheet of paper (the roll) the students will map
the arc of each character, how they grow in the story,
because each character reveals something or changes
somehow. Afterwards students will decide if the character
is static or dynamic.
