The Bermuda Historical Society is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1895. The Society promotes a wide interest in all aspects of Bermuda history through its exhibits, publications and scholarship fund.
The organization shows the future
generations the varied artefacts from bygone. It
also gives them deeper appreciation of life in early Bermuda. The collection of the Bermuda cedar furniture dates almost exclusively from the eighteenth century while the numerous pieces of silver flatware were nearly all fashioned by local smiths. There are also significant Bermuda portraits, as well as ceramics and crystal imported long ago by the Island's sea captains. While the museum is open Monday-Friday and selected Saturdays for the public to enjoy at their leisure, the Bermuda Historical Society is always delighted to arrange for guided tours of the museum with one of our excellent volunteers!
