Email - (alundquist@rjuhsd.us)

Course Description:
AP European History is a tough class! Its college level. There is a lot of reading, writing, and test taking. However, this
class will challenge you and make you a better student. It will prepare you for college and will be a great indicator for
whether or not you want to take future AP courses in the Social Science area. We will cover 500 years of history,
spanning 15 countries. Our journey will begin in the 15th century Renaissance Italy, and will finish with the end of
communism in 1992. I realize that is a lot of information. For all lovers of World War II, we will not get there until
April, so stop asking!! There will be topics in this class you will absolutely love and be fascinated with, and there will
be topics that will bring you to the brink of poking your eyeballs out with a pencil. Keep in mind the ultimate goal:
PASSING THE AP TEST IN MAY THAT YOU WILL ALL TAKE BECAUSE WHY ELSE WOULD YOU TAKE
THIS CLASS IF IT WASNT TO PASS THE TEST AND POTENTIALLY RECEIVE COLLEGE CREDIT SO YOU
WONT HAVE TO TAKE THAT FRESHMAN HISTORY COURSE IN COLLEGE WHICH WILL SAVE YOU A
LOT OF MONEY!!! So hold on tight, fasten your seatbelts, and embrace the knowledge you will receive which will
make you a productive member of society.
Materials:
Basic Text: A History of Western Society (The good looking guy on the front of the text is Diege Velazquez, voted as one

Class:
You will be in the following groups for the entire year: Red and Silver. Mondays will be a split day (you will see
myself for of period, and English for period). The Red group will be in AP Euro on Tuesdays and
Thursdays, and Silver will be on Wednesdays and Fridays. This will not change throughout the year.
There will be homework every night in the form of reading questions, flashcards, primary source readings, or study for
tests.
Class participation is vital to survive. You will need to come out of your comfort zone and participate.
Class will typically involve lecture, discussion, debate, and cooperative learning, artwork, simulations, games,
interactive assignments, and movie clips (notice I did not say entire movies, well save that for the end of the year).
All work must be done in blue or black ink, no exceptions. Im not hating on pencils, its just that you have to write in
pen on the AP test.

Evaluation Process:
Tests will be given after every unit. These tests will include multiple choice and short answer. In addition, quizzes will
be given as well. All quizzes will be announced.
If tests scare you, get over your fear! However, if you complete all of your assignments and work hard, the worst you
will receive in this class is a C, which is technically a B.
Completing graphic organizers when due and saving them will help you down the road.
Taking notes is important. Use Cornell style notes. All powerpoints are on my website.

Absentees:
If a student has an excused absence, check my website. Any work must be checked off within day of excused absence.
If you are out, I am still expecting you to complete the assignment that is due and to be turned in the day you get back. I
need parent contact (via email) if this could not be done.
If a student has an excused absence on the day of a test, they have that many days to make up the test unless the student
consults Mr. Lundquist. In other words, if a student missed two days of class and they are excused, the student has two
days to make up that test unless they make arrangements with Mr. Lundquist. After two days expires, the student will
receive a zero on that test.
Tardies:
School policy in effect.
Extra Credit:
I do not offer extra credit, but I do accept late work for credit.
Office Hours:
See me after school in room A204 if you need any assistance. Any late work will be checked at this time, not during
class.
