DOLPHINS
Dolphins are mammals. They are not really fish. They are warm blooded (like
man) and give birth to one baby (called a "calf") at a time.
At birth, a dolphin calf is about 90-130 centimeters long and will grow to 4
meters. Dolphins live up to 40 years.
The dolphin baby is born tail first, and its mother will feed the baby for up to 2
years.
However, the young dolphin will stay with its mother for 3-6 years. During this
time the calf learns all about feeding, social interaction and group hunting.
