Background
Labial adhesion mean that labia minora or labia majora are fused together. Labial
adhesion appear to be partial or complete adherence. It occurs most often in young
girls and occasionally in elderly woman. One of the predispose factor was
hypoestrogenic state. Labial adhesion in reproductive woman most likely due to
traumatic or infection. Based on literature, post partum labial adhesion are
uncommon. Severe degree of labial adhesion requiring surgical correction and rarely
reported.
Case
A 30 years old woman, P2, present with Labial Adhesion after vaginal repair 10
months ago. Patient came with chief complain lower abdominal pain and urinary
retention. Patient underwent vaginal repair after spontaneus delivery 16 months ago.
On Physical examination, difficult to identified Urethra and Vagina. On Ultrasound
examination, found Hematocolpos. Performed surgical division on labial adhesion.
Found there were urinary pooling and no hematocolpos.
Conclusion
Labial adhesion can be usually divided under surgical and rapid recovery. Identify the
adhesion and organ underneth the adhesion need carefully evaluated and sometimes
can be differ between hematocolpos and urinary pooling.
