It started around the late 4th century or early 5th century


Is believed to be founded in the last years of Macedoniuss life.

DEFINITION OF MACEDONIANISM
Macedonianism is the act of rejecting the divinity of the Holy Spirit .
Believed that the Holy Spirit was a high angel.

Also known as Pneumatonmachianism

WRONG
Why?
Rejected Divinity of the Holy Spirit
Went against teachings/writings of St. Athanasius of Alexandria and St.
Basil of Caesarea

OPPOSERS OF MACEDONIANISM
Damasus and Theodosius I were some of the opposers of Macedonianism
Through people such as Damasus and Theodosius I, the heresy came to a
close.
The 2nd Council Of Constantinople played a part of the downfall of
Macedonianism
The creed (Nicene) was expanded to affirm the divinity of the Holy Spirit.

HOW MACEDONIANISM WAS DEFEATED


Diminished after Second Council of Constantinople.
It may have been defeated centuries ago but is it really?
