How do you understand Piaget`s stages of cognitive development? using toys to better
understanding Piaget`s Theory.
Description: Using your knowledge of Piaget`s stages of cognitive development visit the toy
shops. Choose 4 toys designed for children at different ages (1,6,10,15 years old). Choose the
level of cognitive development at which each toy is most appropriate (ignore the
manufacturer`s age recommendations placed on the package label).
Helpful question: At what age would this toy be most interesting?
Examine which mental operations and cognitive skills are required to interact in each toy
effectively.
