He took graphic design courses in the 1980s and worked on magazines related to music, skateboarding, and surfing. As art director for Transworld Skateboarding magazine, he developed his signature style using unconventional typography and photography. In 1995 he founded his own studio in New York and later opened another studio in South Carolina, where he also became creative director of a museum. He has done work for major clients and won several awards for his graphic design work.
