‘To Whom It May Concern,
‘Ms. Haley Young’ student teaching experience was spent at Edgewood High School, a rural
environment of approximately 1200 students, in Trenton, Ohio, During the traditional
sseven-period school day, Ms. Young taught two periods of Pre-AP English 10 and three periods of
English 11. Two ofthese class periods were inclusion based, so Ms. Young worked closely with an
inclusion specialist. Ms. Young assumed all ofthe roles ofthe classroom teacher, including taking
attendance, supervising homeroom, contacting parents, and listing and recording assignments in
ProgressBook, the online grading system,
From day one, Ms. Young established her confidence in lesson planning and preparation. One of
her great strengths is her organization, which allows Ms. Young to plan and manage activities with
‘ease and skil, Another of Ms. Young's strengths lies inher creativity and passion forthe subject
area, Throughout the semester, she planned lessons that were insightful, challenging, standards
‘based, and engaging for the students, Ms. Young created these lesson plans for numerous units,
Including A Tale of Two Cities Jane Eyre, The Crucible, and Macbeth. Adaitionally, Ms. Young
prepared multiple weiting assignments that challenged students to write with precise language
‘and detail, helping prepare them for college or a career.
One of Ms. Young's greatest areas of growth has been in her overall confidence level Inthe
classroom. Like many new teachers, ittook some time for her to find her teaching voice and show
‘command of the class. The growth she has shown inthis area has been tremendous, and Ms. Young,
hhas been able to establish a strong rapport with her students. They enjoy her teaching and feel
comfortable coming to her with questions, which has resulted in a successful and positive
classroom environment.
As the semester progressed, Ms. Young truly acted asa professional. She attended several
‘department, IEP and staff meetings, and she accepts constructive criticism with grace and
‘enthusiast, Overall, Ms. Haley Young's organization, passion, and dedication to the students will
‘make her an excellent teacher and an asset to any school district.
Sincerely,
Rachael Anderson
